Quality of life through quality of movement

Reformer Workshop an outstanding Success!

Finally I have managed to get round to posting something about our first reformer workshop; held at Bamboo Pilates Academy;
We where very like to be able to have Brigitte Wrenn; STOTT PILATES Lead Instructor Trainer to take us through our paces. The workshop was two hours, covering reformer set-up and essential level exercises; once everyone had demonstrated their competence; we got a taste of the harder intermediate exercises too . We finished with a flourish of interval work on the extremely enjoyable Cardio Tramp! A trampoline fixed to the end of the reformer, great fun and a real workout!

See some pictures of our session below along with some of the feed back we received from those who attended.

More sessions planned so so if you are interested please let us know!……Rob

I thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought it was extremely professional and clearly instructed. Having a two hour session also meant that you could be totally absorbed and get a momentum going along with the others in the group. I went in with no energy and left feeling great!”.…….Nikki

“I thought the session was great and a good work out. It also made me feel as if I have learnt a bit over the years and above all else- I knew you were good- it made me realise how very lucky I am to have you as a trainer!”………Lizzy

“The class was well worthwhile and Brigitte’s clear teaching and obvious enthusiasm for Pilates was perfect.” ………..Woody

“Many thanks for organising the session on Saturday. I very much enjoyed it and it was great to experience the Reformers in a class situation. I thought Bridget was a great instructor too. I would be very interested in attending another session.”………..Katie

Last courses of 2014 start this week!

This week we start the last course of 2014. It’s hard to believe that this year has gone so quickly, but this week we’ve started our seventh and last course of 2014.

We will be running some classes right up to the last week before Christmas whilst others will finish with the end of the school year. If you’re interested in Reigate Pilates classes, we offer 18 classes in Reigate itself, in a variety of levels so there will be something suitable for you.

Other classes are also available in Betchworth, just outside of Reigate. The Betchworth venue has ample free parking making it a credible alternative to Reigate or Dorking.

Our Dorking Pilates classes are going from strength to strength with 11 classes on offer, again of varying levels from beginner to intermediate. We also see Body-Torque returning to the Dorking Sports Centre Studio on Thursday morning. The studio is a great place to practise Pilates with full height mirrors and beautiful floor.

So it’s not too late to sign up for a course and feel the benefits before the Christmas party season gets into full swing. Hope to see you soon.

7-Oaks Triathlon 2015

As you may know some of us participated in the 7-Oaks Triathlon earlier this year, it’s a great event and one of the longest established triathlons in our area; well organised and supported by local companies and of course the members of 7-Oaks Tri Club, a super event, friendly, but not easy!!

The event always fills really quickly, last year it was sold out in about 90 minutes! If you’re interested in entering for 2015 there is a mailing list you can join which notifies you when the entries open; those of us who raced this year plan to return next year, and will do better in 2015!  If you’re interested in joining us please register your interest on the 7-oaks mailing list (link below).

7OaksSignUp

Entries will open in mid November, and the 2015 7-Oaks Triathlon will be held on Sunday 19th April 2015.

Last year we ran a training session to cover transition, we can organise more training for this year if we have the demand.

See you on the start line?
Rob

Facebook Draw

Just remembered we didn’t post anything about or Facebook draw which took place at the end of August just before our summer break. Our thanks go to all those of you who liked our page along with Sophie who kindly drew the winning ticket in the presence of the 08.30 Saturday class.

Facebook Draw

The lucky winner was Debbie Parker, who receives a voucher for a 90 minute 1:1 session, postural analysis and bespoke exercise programme. Congratulations Debbie!!

Well Done Team Body-Torque

Well done to the super guys and girl of our Run Reigate team for completing the first (of many?) Reigate half marathon.

 Team Body-torque2

We were very lucky to have a gloriously sunny day for the event; everyone was in high spirits and thoroughly enjoyed the day despite the 13.1 miles we had to run. The race had an incredible atmosphere, with an estimated 3,000 runners and lots of local volunteers helping along the route.

I’m very pleased to say we have smashed our fund-raising target of £500, in aid of the Children’s Trust; our current total is over £800, so thank you so much if you for your generous donations. If you would like to donate and haven’t got round to it yet, our Virgin money giving page will be active for the next few weeks, please visit: ://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/body-torque

Sadly a young man died at the race on Sunday, and our thoughts and sympathy are with his family and friends.

Thank you for your support.

“Alfresco” Pilates in Reigate

What a great run of beautiful weather we’ve been having!

Luckily for those who came to our Tuesday evening Pilates mat-work classes at Dunottar school on Tuesday, the weather held fine for the whole evening, as there was a mix-up with the venue booking meaning the hall was locked when we arrived. This however gave us an opportunity to get outside and enjoy the beautiful school gardens and spend a super summer evening of Pilates al fresco.

So many enjoyed the chance to be outside on such a lovely evening that we have been asked to do more sessions outside if the weather holds.

Enjoy the summer
