I have always been keen on sport and happy to try anything
given the opportunity. Having been a keen swimmer I progressed
to waterpolo, where I played for Croydon Amphibians for many
years, both in the Surrey and London leagues. After
retiring from waterpolo due to injury, and becoming bored with
gym sessions with no targeted goal, I tried my hand at
Triathlon, which proved to be extremely enjoyable and I have
since completed numerous events at various distances including
Ironman.
Other sport interest;
- Karate/martial arts (instructor-Shodan)
- Windsurfing
- Sailing
- Water-skiing
- Skiing
After Danielle set up Body-Torque in 2003, it was inevitable
that I would be required to sample the exercises, after some
initial reluctance I was “bitten by the Pilates bug” and was
soon planning my own Pilates training route. I opted for
the STOTT PILATES method, after investigating other
styles. This was due to the diverse nature of the STOTT
PILATES method, which offered study in injury rehabilitation,
matwork and the full range of Pilates equipment, providing the
opportunity to teach at all levels from the most basic to the
most demanding/elite athlete.
After some preparatory training in anatomy and human
movement, I signed up for an intensive matwork course though
Active Pilates and the YMCA FIT in London in 2006. Having
successfully completed the matwork course, practical and theory
examinations I was certified as a STOTT Pilates Matwork
instructor in February 2007. I have since gone on to
train on items of small equipment/stability ball and in breast
cancer rehab.
