Danielle Slape studied dance at Arts Educational School in London for three years before moving onto A’levels and working in a business environment.  She trained in 2003 as a Pilates mat-work teacher with Modern Pilates and as her passion for the subject grew, continued to evolve her teaching style through attendance at various workshops and also through Pilates Umbrella with Julian Littleford and Alan Herdman.  Danielle holds an NVQ level 3 Pilates Training Certificate.  Danielle later spent a year studying with Alan Herdman (who set up the UK’s first Pilates studio in 1970) to expand her knowledge of the Pilates method and to train in the use of the Pilates studio equipment. Danielle is highly experienced in working with ante and post natal clients and holds an NVQ in Ante and Post Natal Exercise through the YMCA.Danielle Slape

Rob Slape  a keen swimmer, progressing to waterpolo, where he played for Croydon Amphibians for many years, both in the Surrey and London leagues.  After retiring from waterpolo due to injury, and becoming bored with gym sessions with no targeted goal, he moved into triathlon, and he has since completed numerous events at various distances including Ironman.  Rob also studied and instructed in Karate for many years (Shodan) and enjoys sailing, windsurfing, water-skiing and skiing.

After some preparatory training in anatomy and human movement, Rob trained in 2006 with STOTT PILATES in mat-work and then continued his training becoming fully certified through STOTT PILATES  incorporating the studio equipment, Reformer, Cadillac, Barrels & Chair.  Rob is also a qualified Gym instructor and Meta-fit Body Weight Training Instructor (Interval Training). He has also attended STOTT PILATES courses covering Breast Cancer Rehab and Injuries and Special Populations. Rob also attending courses through YMCAFIT, and  is qualified to teach Circuit Training, Triathlon Training and Running.


Madeleine Bramham is truly passionate about her fitness and exercises daily; in addition to Pilates, Madeleine is a keen swimmer, regularly works out at the gym and loves attending Body-Torque’s challenging Metafit (HIIT) classes!2015-06-04 09.47.15-2 (2) Madeleine’s first introduction to Pilates was with Body Torque in 2005 after the birth of her first child. Madeleine quickly became hooked on the Pilates method, and attended more and more classes and 1:1 studio (apparatus) sessions. Finally, deciding she wanted to help others enjoy the benefits of Pilates as much as she had, she gave up her career in finance and trained as a Pilates instructor.

Madeleine trained with STOTT PILATES and YMCAFIT in London and now holds an NVQ Level 3 in Anatomy and Physiology for Exercise and Health and an NVQ Level 3 Pilates Training Certificate (mat-work). Madeleine has gone on to study Pre and Postnatal Pilates, with Carolyne Anthony, and will no doubt be adding more qualifications to her C.V. as her Pilates journey continues.

After completing her training, Madeleine started teaching for Body-Torque Pilates. Her calm and relaxed approach is reassuring to beginners, whilst her ability to subtly challenge our more experienced clients has helped Madeleine to build her band of faithful followers.


Laura Baldwin started her professional career as a dental therapist working with vulnerable adults and children also teaching dental hygiene therapy at the Royal London Dental Hospital. After having two (beautiful!!) children, Laura discovered Pilates and was inspired by how it helped her regain control and confidence in her body.

Encouraged by her new found strength, exercise has become integral to daily life for Laura, along with her Pilates practise, Laura is an accomplished and dedicated runner; who also enjoys the challenge of Body-Torque’s HITT class metafit, which she feels perfectly complements her running and Pilates training.

Inevitably it was only a matter of time before Laura made the decision to change career, she retrained as a comprehensive Pilates teacher with BASI Pilates UK. Laura now enjoys helping others find new joy and strength in their bodies through Pilates, and is excited to have joined Body-Torque Pilates, teaching group mat-work and private studio sessions, both mat-work and apparatus.
