Danielle Slape:

I love movement and particularly dance, I studied dance full-time at the Arts Educational School in London. I then worked in the City for many years, when I was offered redundancy in 2003 I decided to return to my movement and exercise roots. Initially I gained Central YMCA Qualifications in Exercise to Music and in the Autumn of the same year trained with Modern Pilates as a Pilates mat-work teacher (NVQ level 3 Pilates Teaching Certificate) starting my own classes/business in 2004. As my passion for Pilates grew, I continued my studying, attending various workshops and training with Pilates master trainers like, Julian Littleford and Alan Herdman as well as training in stability ball with Kathryn Cullen and Ballet Fusion with Alex Rees. In 2011 I commenced a year as an apprentice with Alan Herdman on his comprehensive teacher training course in his London Studios to expand my knowledge of the Pilates method and to train to teach on the Pilates studio equipment.
In 2015 I was fortunate to be able to work with Rael Isacowitz founder of BASI Pilates on his Mentor Program. I later went on to complete BASI Pilates Comprehensive Teacher Training Course in 2017 and have since attended courses through BASI such as Pilates Through Pregnancy and Beyond, Injuries and Pathologies and Osteoporosis Course. This Autumn (2021) I’m excited to be again working with Rael Isacowitz in London as I attend his mentor course for a second time; yes it was that good!
I am highly experienced with older clients and attended workshops with Sheila Done, a UK based presenter who also specialises in this client base. My other specialism is in working with ante and post natal clients; I have completed Carolyne Anthony’s (Centre for Women’s Fitness) Pre and Post Natal Pilates Specialist Teacher Training Program, including exercises for healing Diastasis Recti, C-Section and Pubis Symphysis dysfunction and Cherry Baker’s Fit to Drop course.

Rob Slape: After Danielle set up her Pilates business in 2004, she encouraged me to try Pilates, as a good husband I did as I was told, and it wasn’t long before I wanted to train to become a teacher myself. Having previously trained in martial arts for many years attaining the grade of Shodan (instructor) I’ve always enjoyed movement and teaching martial arts. More recently I have been a competitive triathlete and completed numerous events at various distances including Ironman. I’m a keen swimmer and water-polo player, I also enjoy sailing, surfing and more recently kitesurfing. My initial Pilates training was with STOTT Pilates in 2006 I then continued training with STOTT Pilates becoming fully certified, incorporating the studio apparatus, (Reformer, Cadillac, Barrels & Chair). Having read books and articles written by Rael Isacowitz, I was lucky enough to be able to join his mentor program in 2015, I then decided to retrain with BASI Pilates and have completed their global comprehensive course and now pleased to be part of the BASI family. I’m also a qualified Gym instructor, Meta-fit (HIIT) instructor and TRX suspension training instructor.
